Cancer Exercise Specialist Workshop
This two day course is for all health and fitness professionals who wish to expand their knowledge to include working with cancer patients and survivors. Class is held from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. Candidates will gain a complete understanding of the entire cancer process from diagnosis and treatment to reconstruction (for breast cancer). Upon completion of the two day workshop and passing a take home multiple choice and essay exam, candidates will receive a Certificate of Advanced Qualification.

Recommended qualifications to participate in the workshop :
- Work related experience in the health and fitness or medical field
- Educational training comparable to an undergraduate degree in health and fitness or a closely related field.
- Nationally recognized Personal Training, Group Exercise Instructor, or Physical Therapy credentials.
- Current CPR certification.
Course will consist of the following:
- Exercise implications for over twenty five different types of cancer, their surgeries and treatments, and breast reconstruction
- Preventing, identifying, and managing extremity lymphedema
- Cancer related pain
- Mental and physical fatigue during cancer treatment
- Working with the medical profession
- Starting a hospital-based Cancer Exercise Program
- Conducting a physical assessment, interpreting the results, and creating an individualized exercise and recovery program
- Using a goniometer to measure joint range of motion
- Conducting postural assessment to determine muscle imbalances.
- Take-home examination at the end of the course. Students will have 6 weeks to complete and mail back to us. ($100 late fee. No exceptions)
Earn 1.7 ACE or 1.0 NASM CEU's (Most other national certification organizations recognize ACE and NASM CEU's.)
